It’s all systems go for Tumeke Cycle Space. Starting this week we’ll be open Sundays 11:00–15:00 at Tangleball (27 Edinburgh Street, Newton, Auckland) for DIY work time.
Come on down! We’ll provide tools, basic gear (cables, puncture repair kits, some spare parts), and advice to help you work on your bicycle project, be it patching a puncture, fixing a brake, building a cruiser, whatever. And if you think Tumeke is a good idea, drop us a donation to keep the place running for the community.
Also, on the last Sunday of every month during our 11:00–15:00 time slot we’ll be running a skill sharing workshop focused on a specific repair. The first one on January 30th will cover puncture repair. It’ll be kid friendly and open to all ranges of experience. We’ll bring lots of flat tires and repair kits, but feel free to bring your own too. Watch this space for news on future workshops.
Hi, I love the idea of your workshops and am happy to donate. I would love a workshop on how to clean the chain and cogs from road dirt an grit while minimising the effect on the environment (eg; to avoid washing off or tipping dirty de-grease liquid into the general water waste). I tend to scrape off the dirt (yes it is caked on!) and then spray lightly with de-greaser. Time consuming!!
Thanks,
Karen
